Kulanu’s Michael Oren discusses his plan for managing the Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Former Ambassador to the US Michael Oren, running for Knesset with Moshe Kahlon’s Kulanu party, said that “peace is the means for achieving… an Israel that is strong… an Israel that is democratic… an Israel that is Jewish,” but that peace is not likely in the coming future.
Oren proposed that Israel take initiative with an interim plan that would increase Palestinian sovereignty, strengthen the Palestinian economy and increase Palestinian freedom of movement in Palestinian-controlled areas of the West Bank, while building in settlements that Israel would keep in a peace deal, and keeping the door open to final-status negotiations.
- Oren warned that an Israeli annexation of Area C of the West Bank would invite an immediate international embargo of Israel.
